The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) notes with sadness the passing of Matshidiso “Tshidi” Madia, a respected political journalist and Associate Editor for Politics at Eyewitness News (EWN).

Her professional journey reflected commitment and dedication to journalism. She began her career at Primedia Broadcasting as an assistant on EWN’s traffic desk, later joined the first team at Power FM as a reporter and presenter, and went on to play a pivotal role in politics reporting at News24. She eventually returned to EWN, where she rose to the position of Associate Editor for Politics.

Madia was a regular presence at EFF press conferences and political events. She distinguished herself as an insightful and fair journalist whose work contributed to informing the public about key political developments in our country.

Madia also hosted the political podcast “Politricking with Tshidi Madia”, which provided a platform for robust discussions on political issues. The EFF and our Commander-inChief, Julius Malema, valued engaging with her on this platform, where she conducted conversations with professionalism and depth.

She will also be remembered for representing South Africa with distinction in global media discourse, particularly her well-regarded engagement with American journalists earlier this year on the false narrative of so-called “white genocide,” where she defended the truth and integrity of our country in this regard.

The EFF sends its condolences to her family, colleagues, and the broader media fraternity. Madia’s contribution to political journalism will be remembered with respect.

May her soul rest in peace.
